UConn HC Dan Hurley delivers hilarious transfer portal analogy

With all but 16 teams out of the running for a national title, scores of high-profile men's college basketball players have been entering the transfer portal this week.

UConn head coach Dan Hurley gave an entertaining take on the increased frequency of "portaling" on Wednesday.

The top-seeded Huskies will play the fifth-seeded San Diego State in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night.

Per ON3.com, 589 student-athletes have entered the 2024 college basketball transfer portal as of Wednesday afternoon, but that number is constantly changing.

As far as UConn's roster, they brought in one crucial player from last cycle's portal in guard Cam Spencer.

The senior played three seasons at Loyola University Maryland from 2019-2022 before transferring to Rutgers University for the 2022-23 campaign.

Spencer has been one of the Huskies' most important pieces in their run to the regional semifinals, finishing the regular season first on the team in steals per game (1.4) and second in points (14.4), assists (3.6) and minutes per contest (32.7).

He went for 15 points, five rebounds and three assists in UConn's first-round win against 16th-seeded Stetson and added 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in the group's second-round victory over ninth-seeded Northwestern.

Spencer led the Big East in three-point field-goal percentage (.440), win shares (7.0), offensive win shares (4.7) and offensive rating (139.4) during the regular season and made the All-Big East First Team.
