Chase Silseth Activated from IL After Long Concussion Stay
USA TODAY Sports

Chase Silseth returned from the injured list Thursday after spending multiple weeks on the injured list with a concussion.

Silseth was hit in the head by an errant throw Aug. 26 in his start against the New York Mets. He initially was placed on the 7-day injured list but remained on the IL for almost a month due to lingering discomfort.

He appeared twice in Triple-A Salt Lake, making two starts and giving up two runs over 3.2 innings while striking out five batters and walking six.

In his second season with the Angels, Silseth has gone 4-1 in seven starts with a 4.10 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP across 48.1 innings. After his rookie season ended with a 6.59 ERA and 1.57 WHIP, Silseth has made a measurable improvement in year two.

Silseth will start Friday in the Angels' final series of the season against the Oakland A's.

Left-handed pitcher Kolton Ingram was optioned to the minors in a corresponding move.
