NFL scout doesn't hold back on one free-agency move by Philadelphia Eagles
Jeremy Reper-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles made so many moves this offseason that it’s hard to remember every single one that they made. Howie Roseman and the front office were clearly motivated to get the franchise back into Super Bowl contention after a horrendous finish to the 2023 NFL season.

Among the moves that were made, the Eagles signed Saquon Barkly in a huge free agency deal, negotiated new contracts with both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and arguably had the best 2024 NFL Draft of any team. They also lost both Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, who both chose to retire.

All of those things happened this offseason, but there was another underrated move that the Eagles made. One NFL scout did not hold back about that move.

NFL Scout Doesn’t Hold Back On 1 Philadelphia Eagles Free Agency Move

In a move that hasn’t received much hype, the Eagles went out into the free agency market and signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star linebacker Devin White.

Just a couple of short years ago, White was being talked about as one of the best linebackers in the entire NFL. He has had some major consistency issues since then, but he is still an extremely talented player.

A former NFL scout spoke out about White and did not hold back his thoughts about the signing for the Philadelphia Eagles.

“The most underrated signing on their defense is (linebacker) Devin White. Yeah, no one has even talked about Devin White, like, I don’t know if we’ve forgotten but this dude two years ago, we talked about him being one of the best at his position. Now building a team that never really invested in linebackers. Get someone off the scrapheap, who’s a legitimate dude. Oh, they’re head and shoulders above last season.”

During the 2023 season with the Buccaneers, White still put together decent numbers. He racked up 83 total tackles to go along with 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, and six defended passes. Those aren’t bad numbers at all, especially when playing in 14 of the possible 17 games.

There is no question that White is a key addition for the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense. If he can return to form from the 2020-2022 seasons, they got a massive steal with the move.

For a team that needed help at linebacker, being able to add a talent like Devin White is a huge win. He may not be hyped up as one of the top linebackers in the NFL right now, but that could change. In Vic Fangio’s defense, the fit looks even better.

Expect to see White come out looking to prove his doubters wrong in 2024. The Philadelphia Eagles are excited about adding him to their defense and it should pay off nicely for them.
