AC Milan, Inter and Atalanta have been linked with a move for Croatian centre-forward Anton Matkovic after the youngster’s appearances caught the eye.

As has been reported by Sportitalia (via Calciomercato.com), the Rossoneri are keen on the 18-year-old who has been likened to Mario Mandzukic, who used to play for Juventus and Milan during his time in Italy.

The 2006-born player is currently at Croatian side Osjiek and he is already playing for the U19 national team. At 191 centimetres, he has a genuine presence in the box which is where the Mandzukic comparisons come from.

He is naturally a striker but has played in a wider role at times too, meaning there is some versatility about him.

He had only played for the first team at Osjiek five times by January but Sassuolo were already watching him very closely, but he has since become an immovable starter.

Matkovic has scored twice this season and is attracting interest from the aforementioned Serie A teams, as well as Frosinone, Everton and Fulham.

It is believed he would cost around €4-5m which is a lot for such a young player but could be a sound investment given his reported quality at such a young age. He could provide more depth as Milan may want more than one striker this summer.
